For your enjoyment (or not), we have created a spoof on Fox News reporters, highlighting their propensity to report less than truthful events.
"News You Can Trust"
By Cristina Johnson
Where did this phrase come from?
Wallace Broeker, a geochemist from Columbia University, published a paper on Aug. 8, 1975 called "Climatic Change: Are We on the Brink of a Pronounced Global Warming?"
His paper argued that in the near future, cooling trends would end and carbon dioxide increases would generate a rapid warming phase. Since then, many scientists have backed up Broeker's research and expanded upon his ideas.
One of the most well-known proponents of global warming is Al Gore, who starred in a video presentation called "An Inconvenient Truth." According to rottentomatoes.com, "An Inconvenient Truth records a multi-media presentation hosted by Gore in which he discusses the scientific facts behind global warming, explains how it has already begun to affect our environment, talks about the disastrous consequences if the world's governments and citizens do not act, and shares what each individual can do to help protect the Earth for this and future generations."
The release of this movie perturbed scientific and public communities, causing them to wonder whether global warming was truly something they needed to worry about. When news stations began interpreting the information presented in the movie it became clear which side of the issue they chose to enhance.
Here is an example of how Fox News views the content of An Inconvenient Truth.
As shown, they are skeptic of any information given, and prove in the coming years to be relentless in the idea that Al Gore 'invented' global warming. This assumption is just as true as Gore's claim to have 'invented' the internet.
Fox News has continued with the trend of making global warming seem as though it is a conspiracy theory enhanced by Al Gore and his left-wing followers. In the following section, we will give examples of how global warming is framed by Fox News, as well as by Comedy Central pundants Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
